India Energy & India Nuclear Energy 2009 makes an impressive debut

India Energy & India Nuclear Energy 2009 provided a suitable platform for the companies to display their products and services to one of the largest markets in the world. The event represented a great opportunity that brought users and buyers together with international suppliers and manufacturers of the Energy Industry.

India Energy 2009 was supported by Ministry of Power and major corporates  like ONGC, Power Grid, Vestas, Kirloskar, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd., Exxon Mobil, to name a few had participated in the event. 3000 Industry professionals from the Energy space had visited the event over three days. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Hon’ble Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Government of India on 13th November 2009 at Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai. In his inaugural speech, Dr Abdullah stressed the importance of Energy keeping in mind the rapid development of the Indian Economy and the important role that Renewable Energy would play in this important sector. This was keeping in mind the climate change and the ecological balance of the world at large. He also mentioned that India is targeting generation of 20,000 megawatts of solar power by 2022. India, Asia’s third-biggest energy consumer, is set to unveil its national solar energy plan.

India Nuclear Energy 2009, was co-sponsored and endorsed by the Department of Atomic Energy, the nodal Government body in the Indian Nuclear Energy sector. In the back drop of recent agreements between India and various other countries and International bodies like IAEA and the NSG, this was the right event at right time, for India. India Nuclear Energy saw the participation of major corporates from this sector from India & overseas. Some of the major participants included Schneider Electric, Electronics Corporation of India, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Kirloskar, Roxtech, Schott Glass, Lockheed Martin, DCNS to name a few. There were country pavilions from Russia & Finland housing Nuclear companies from these two respective countries. 2200 Industry professionals from the Nuclear Energy space had visited the event over three days.
Exhibition provided a platform for collaborations between Indian suppliers and large global players for the country’s nuclear energy business.

India Nuclear Energy Summit 2009

India Nuclear Energy Summit 2009, A one day Summit was organized on 14th November 2009 at Mumbai. It provided a global platform which addressed key issues, identified opportunities and challenges, captured learnings and best practices from global success stories and focused on strategic and a complete competitiveness kit for the sector as it prepares to meet new challenge and moves towards competitive efficiency. Dr. Anil Kakodkar- Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission delivered the Key Note Address. In his address Dr Kakodkar said the private parties can also join hands with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited to understand the safety issues associated with Nuclear power generation. Addressing the theme of the event “ Nuclear Vision  By 2050 “ , Dr Kakodkar remarked that the Nuclear Energy generation capacity is poised to be 470 gigawatt by 2050.  A CEO’s roundtable moderated by Mr Govind Ethiraj, Editor in chief, UTV Bloomberg discussed the roadmap for sustainable development of the nascent India Nuclear Energy Industry. Corporate heads from leading companies from India and abroad were a part of the panel discussion. In the summit eminent speakers from India and abroad discussed various facets of the development of the Nuclear Energy Industry in India and the steps to be taken to maintain the momentum of growth. The Summit was attended by 220 delegates from India and abroad.
