Global Pharma fraternity converges at CPhI /P-MEC/ICSE/ BioPh India 2009
South Asia’s highly acclaimed global pharma event, the three-in-one CPhI / P-MEC / ICSE / BioPh India 2009 held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, from 1 to 3 December and was a phenomenal success and concluded on a very positive note. The event inaugurated by Shri Ashok Kumar , Secretary . Department of Pharmaceuticals , Govt. of India , attracted considerable global attention. The hugely successful three-day event at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, had 773 exhibitors, including 314 international companies from 20 countries and regions. There were 26303 attendees including 2,495 international attendees from 86 countries, prominent among them being from the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. Throughout the three days exhibitors were seen interacting with visitors as exhibiting companies showcased their products and innovative solutions.
CPhI India and the co-located P-MEC, ICSE and BioPh are the leading exhibitions for pharmaceutical ingredients and allied industries. P-MEC has already become the largest exhibition for the pharmaceutical machinery and equipment industry in India. ICSE is India’s fastest growing event for the burgeoning outsourcing and contract services sector. About 15 companies were part of the BioPh trail which was introduced this year. The BioPh trail allowed visitors to identify companies dealing with the research and development of new treatment methods made through biotechnological processes or which are derived from or use live organisms. The 3 day event saw several major pharmaceutical companies announcing launch, expansion plans and joint ventures.
Biosimilars India 2009 was yet another highlight of this year’s event. The launch of the Biosimilars conference, gave delegates insight into India’s Biosimilars regulatory framework, Cost Effective Global Sourcing Strategies for Biosimilars Ingredients, materials and services. After witnessing overwhelming response on the first day, day two of the conference was no different with every seat occupied in the hall. Internationally renowned speakers who are considered best in this domain have indeed made the Biosimilars India 2009 conference highly successful. Audiences at the conferences were of the opinion that such conferences should be the feature of each year’s event. The exhibition and conference brought together the who's who of the pharmaceutical industry, and it acted as a catalyst for the exchange of expertise, technical know-how, and innovations.
To take this theme further and ride on the success wave of the earlier conferences CPhI/P-MEC/ICSE / BioPh India 2009 also saw the curtain raiser for the India Pharma Summit organized by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India in partnership with UBM and FICCI. the conference was attended by experts from the Pharma Industry and was inaugurated by the Srikant Kumar Jena, Honorable Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers , Govt. of India. 820 delegates participated in the summit which identified opportunities, challenges and created a roadmap to achieve consistent growth. The summit covered topics like “India Pharma - Status and Opportunities for Production, Investment & Trade,” Opportunities and Challenges in R&D, Clinical Trials, Pharma Education and Industry Academia Partnership” and Vision – “India the Global Partner.” Kicking off on November 30 at the Nehru Centre and continuing at the venue of CPhI India, IPS turned out to be a landmark brainstorming conference for the Indian pharma industry
The huge success of CPhI / P-MEC /ICSE / BioPh India and Biosimilars India 2009 has set a benchmark for organising this event on a much larger scale in the coming years. With the kind of dedication and global standards that UBM is used to, future events will only be more successful. CPhI/P-MEC/ICSE / BioPh India – the regions’ leading pharma event will return to Mumbai in 2010, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, from 1st to 3rd December.
